I bought these from you a while back and, although it took a while, finally finished the shower and I think it looks pretty good! I went with the flush look because to me it looks more intentional. I didn't want to tile a niche into the walls because of the constant moisture likely to reside there and cause mildew. These will be much easier to keep clean, look tidy, and as you pointed out on your website, there is no need for a spikey thing to hold the soap in place! Jeff. |
If you want to install flush as Jeff has expertly done above keep in mind these cuts around the units with the curves are very difficult to do. The standard install over the tile is much easier to do. Notice Jeff's symmetry on the tiles, valves and recessed dishes! "Would you like to do my tile work, Jeff?"

"I'm a newbie DIY-er who just finished my first tile surround project. I bought two shampoo niches from Daniels Kitchen and Bath, and was really happy with the results. I think overall it wasn't really any more work tiling these in than it would have been to include bath shelves, but the result is much better. Shampoo and supplies are out of our way, there's nothing to bump into--and the look is a lot cleaner. I tiled with white subways, and the gloss white niches work perfectly. Mark of Massillon Ohio used two 2-compartment soap shampoo shelves with a soap only recess for a foot rest. These units are matte white in color, reflecting the color of the surrounding tile.

I ordered a shampoo holder from you a few weeks ago. We installed it according to your instructions and we love it! We are solo glad we decided to buy this item and take the time to include it in our project. This was our very first experience with tile work and I really appreciate the tips you were kind enough to give me by phone. Anyhow, here are a few pics of the shampoo holder after installation.

"In replacing a fiberglass shower and tub unit with ceramic tile I wanted recessed soap and shampoo holders that would save me the hassle of having to frame, board and grout. These inserts worked perfectly as they simply dropped into the holes I had left for them with a minimal amount of caulk and match perfectly with the shower base. Since they are ceramic and not plastic they look and feel like they were specially made to fit my space."
Nice choice of tiles and design. Foot rest for shaving legs with both combination shelf and shampoo storage niche. Notice 6x6 tile in upper area on diagonal, carries around the corners nicely.
